CallPlus is calling on the Commerce Commission to move swiftly to stop Telecom introducing its new broadband pricing regime, due to take effect from October 26.
More than two years have passed since Europe’s top antitrust authority, the European Commission, found Microsoft guilty of monopoly abuse, fined it €497 million (NZ$981 million) and ordered it to change the way it sells software across the European Union.
Telecom’s current dual role, as both network-owner and retail services company, is destroying shareholder value and reducing the company’s ability to respond to demand, says John Third, managing director of Guinness Gallagher, a Wellington-based consultancy.
Although it’s still early days for web-hosted applications there will definitely be a move towards them, says John Blackham, XSol chief executive.
