HP's annual Discover conference unearths new IT products

  • HP is launching a raft of new products at its annual Discover conference this week that explore the mysteries of unchartered IT territory in network, server, storage and application areas.

  • HP’s Flex Fabric 7900 Switch Series is an SDN and cloud switch designed for ease of use, faster service provisioning and scale. It starts at $55,500 and is available now.

  • HP says its 3PAR StoreServ 7450 storage array delivers faster response times at the same price as high-performance spinning media without sacrificing enterprise-class storage resiliency and petabyte scalability. 3PAR StoreServ 1.92TB cMLC drives are priced at $14,315 per drive and available in July. Operating system software will be available in September.

  • HP’s StoreOnce Backup recovery and archiving system now includes data protection and management enhancements to handle increasing volumes of information. HP StoreOnce 6500 starts at $375,000 and will be available in July. Associated software and hardware is priced from $1,750 to $37,500.

  • HP OneView serves as an “automation hub” and is designed for letting customers simplify and consolidate IT management tools, as well as automate routine operations. Pricing starts at $699 and it is available now.

  • HP ConvergedSystem for Virtualization is designed to provide the foundation for private cloud deployments and deliver virtualized IT-as-a-Service. Pricing starts at $170,000 and it is available now.

  • HP Apollo 6000 System features an air-cooled server rack design and external power shelf for efficient and optimized server performance; maximizes performance efficiency and makes HPC capabilities accessible to a wide range of enterprise customers. Pricing varies by configuration and it’s available for order this week.

  • Apollo 8000 System is a liquid-cooled supercomputer with hardware protection capabilities. Water-cooling is designed for ultra-low energy usage. Pricing is based on configuration and it’s available for order this week.

  • HP Trusted Network Transformation is an end-to-end strategy and service to transform customer data center network infrastructure and operations while maintaining business continuity. Pricing is on a customized basis and it’s available now.

  • HP Datacenter Care Flexible Capacity integrates on-premise and public cloud resources in a single pool to make IT capacity more flexible and adaptable. It priced on a pay-per-use basis and is available now.

  • HP Enterprise Secure Key Manager 4.0 is designed to reduce the cost and complexity of managing encryption keys across a distributed infrastructure with consistent security controls, automated key services and a single point of management. It’s available now and pricing is dependent on customer deployment.
