Sydney (January, 2004), LaCie, a leading producer of state-of-the-art storage devices, introduced today the launch of a new line of desktop hard drives that deliver universal convenience: dual FireWire 800 ports, one FireWire 400 and USB 2.0 ports. LaCie’s high-performance triple interface drives offer the fast spinning mechanism on the market - 7200 rpm and boast transfer rates up to 800Mbits/sec. These versatile drives feature FireWire 800 connectors for speed, a Hi-Speed USB port for cross-platform convenience and an additional FireWire 400 port for recent computers or for daisy-chaining FireWire/iLink/DV devices, all in our award-winning LaCie d2 design. Ranging in capacities from 160GB to record-breaking 500GB, LaCie d2 drives are well equipped for intensive multimedia and audio applications.

Combining unique triple interface technology with capacities of up to 500GB per drive, LaCie d2 Hard Drives are faster and more powerful than previously available hard drives. Not only are they perfect for storing digital data and office documents, but also for archiving photos, music, and video.

"Stackable, rack mountable or placed upright on its foot, the d2 Triple Interface is the perfect professional solution for DV video capture, editing and playback," said Olivier Mirloup, LaCie senior product manager. “The included DV cable allows you to download digital video footage directly from your camcorder.” LaCie d2 Triple Interface Hard Drives were designed with ease-of-use and functionality in mind. They are easily attached and detached, even while a computer is running, and offer true plug-and-play operation for transferring large data files without interruption.
