FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — 19 November, 2003 — Citrix Systems, Inc., the global leader in access infrastructure solutions, today announced that Hong Kong’s largest airline carrier, Cathay Pacific Airways, has selected Citrix® MetaFrame® Presentation Server – the foundation of the Citrix MetaFrame Access Suite -- to provide 800 employees at 40 widespread locations with access to its core engineering maintenance and logistics system, Ultramain from Software Solutions Unlimited, Inc.

With Citrix MetaFrame Presentation Server, Cathay Pacific can now centrally deploy and administer Ultramain on headquarters’ servers, eliminating the need to install the complex client software on each user’s desktop. This has greatly reduced application deployment and maintenance time and costs. Remote users can now work more efficiently with bandwidth as low as 10 to 20 kbps. As a result, the airline’s staff now has secure, easy and instant access to the application over low-bandwidth connections, minimising bandwidth consumption from overseas offices and overcoming the productivity challenges of slow connections. With Citrix access infrastructure, engineers and maintenance planners can now access aircraft maintenance records wherever they are, whenever they need them, with the same performance as if the application were installed on their local PC.

“As a leading international airline, Cathay Pacific is continually looking at ways to boost efficiency and improve our service offering,” said C.C. Ha, IT architecture consultant at Cathay Pacific. “We are moving toward delivering all our applications through the Web, and Citrix offers the most cost-effective and instant solution, which helped us save IT manpower and increase end-user satisfaction.”
