Rackspace Bolsters Executive Team with Appointments for Managing Director of APJ and Managing Director of ANZ

SYDNEY – September 16, 2019 – Rackspace has announced two key executive appointments in the Asia-Pacific region: Sandeep Bhargava as Managing Director of Asia-Pacific Japan, and Sean Girvin as Managing Director of Australia and New Zealand – both effective immediately. Girvin will succeed Darryn McCoskery, while Bhargava’s is a newly created position.

Bhargava’s main mission in his Managing Director of APJ role will be to drive Rackspace’s growth across the region and establish strong local teams to ensure customers receive the renowned Rackspace Fanatical Experience™. He joins Rackspace with over 20 years of IT services experience, including roles at DXC Technology, Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE), HP, Dell EMC and Procter & Gamble.

“It’s wonderful to join Rackspace at a time of such exciting growth for the organisation,” said Bhargava. “Our teams across the APJ region work tirelessly to unlock digital transformation potential for our clients, and I am pleased to come on board to support and lead them in their journey. With the industry balancing concerns about how to best invest in new cloud technologies while optimising legacy IT, the time is ripe to help companies of all shapes and sizes navigate this complexity with Rackspace.”

Girvin’s focus as the new Managing Director for ANZ will be pioneering Rackspace as the partner of choice for cloud services, while also building a great workplace that attracts and develops the best talent in the industry. Prior to joining Rackspace, Girvin was Vice President, Head of Sales for HPE South Pacific. He also has held leadership positions at HP and Electronic Data Systems (EDS), working in more than 40 countries and living in five.

“Clearly I am very excited to have the opportunity to assist our customers and partners on their digital transformation journey. I very much look forward to working with the team as we help customers accelerate the value of the cloud and ensure Rackspace is recognised as the best partner in the marketplace, helping companies on their journey to get the most out of their cloud investment,” said Girvin.

“We are extremely pleased to welcome Sandeep and Sean to the Rackspace family,” said Kevin Jones, CEO of Rackspace. “They bring with them a wealth of global experience and outstanding track records for leading and transforming businesses with energy and passion. I’m looking forward to seeing their positive influence take shape in the region with their teams, and our customers and partners. On behalf of Rackspace, I would also like to thank Darryn McCoskery for his contributions to the business during his tenure.”

The appointments occur during a successful time for Rackspace in the region, having recently been named the thirteenth Great Place to Work ® in Australia, and, for the fourth year in a row, recognised as the Asia-Pacific Managed Cloud Services Provider of the Year by Frost & Sullivan.

Bhargava will work out of Rackspace’s Singapore office and Girvin will be based in Rackspace’s Sydney office.
