Hospitals roll out NZ-developed clinical messaging system

North Shore Hospital and Waitakere Hospital have rolled out a smartphone messaging service developed by Auckland-based Oncall Systems Limited.
The cloud-based Smartpage system comprises separate modules designed for messaging and dispatch management for orderly, clinical and emergency staff.
North Shore and Waitakere, which are part of the Waitemata District Health Board, have rolled out the Orderly module.
Smartpage Orderly has been installed across all departments and wards in the hospitals. The hospitals legacy communication system was decommissioned within three days of the new system going live.
Australian company Alcidion revealed in December that it had entered into a binding agreement with Oncall to acquire the healthcare software developer.
“The successful roll-out and quick uptake of the Smartpage Orderly module at Auckland’s North Shore hospital demonstrates to us the business potential and strategic rationale of the Oncall acquisition,” Alcidion CEO, Ray Blight, said in a statement.
Blight said that Smartpage had been successfully integrated with Alcidion’s Miya platform.
The CEO said that based on the reception the integrated offering had received during a number of tender presentations, the company believes it is “a differentiated product with significant market opportunities, especially given the increasing demand for reliable and proven technology-based communication solutions in the hospital and healthcare setting as hospitals increasingly move away from legacy technology, such as radio paging.”
