Dear What Am I Worth,
I am an IT consultant with six years’ experience working for an educational instuition. The role involves providing technical support, research, consultancy advice and assistance with specialist corporate information systems. These include email, the corporate GroupWise system, intranet/internet, payroll, financial, timetabling and helpdesk systems.
I specialise in internet and email systems with a fair bit of ad-hoc development thrown in - both web using HTML, ASP, PHP, CGI, Perl and non-web in Delphi. I have extensive systems experience with NetWare, NT and some Unix and have worked a great deal in the area of NetWare/NT integration.
I have both team leader and a small amount project management experience and have recently given up being a tutor in website design/HTML. In terms of qualifications I have a Diploma in Business Computing and a CNA and am slowly working on my MCSE and CNE as time permits. What could I earn in the US?
ITech Solutions in New York replies: There is a demand for you in US with the basics you have said - but because you have no US experience you can get into the market at $US60/$65 per hour in a eight to 10-hour daily shift for six-month projects.
