JD Edwards users happy so far

JD Edwards users in New Zealand are generally positive about communication and consultation with the company over its acquisition by PeopleSoft, even if there hadn’t been much yet.
Ian Bell, IT manager at meat processor Richmond, one of New Zealand’s biggest JDE sites, says he hasn’t received any personal communication from PeopleSoft since the acquisition was wrapped up, “but given that the transaction was only completed on August 29, it’s a very complex issue and Asia-Pacific is a small part of a global business, I don’t feel annoyed I haven’t been contacted”.
Bell says it’s business as usual at Richmond, which uses JDE’s OneWorld Xe.
“Nothing has changed — we’re still dealing with JDE in exactly the same way we were four months ago.”
Jude Davidson, project manager at Serco New Zealand, a facilities management provider, says Serco has received “appropriate information” from PeopleSoft.
“I wouldn’t have expected to have had a great deal of direct contact from PeopleSoft Asia-Pacific at this point; I’m happy about it.”
While the PeopleSoft’s September 5 briefing provided some information, it’s still very early days regarding the integration path, she says.
“There are a lot of staffing issues to work through.”
Serco uses JDE products for managing clients’ assets as well as internal functions.
The Open Polytechnic’s IT director, Ken Spagnolo, says he is happy with the level of communication by PeopleSoft.
“It’s sent us long emails inviting us to various briefings; it’s done fine.”
The polytechnic uses the finance and inventory modules of JD Edwards’ OneWorld Xe and Spagnolo says he isn’t expecting any great change as a result of the acquisition.
“It’s not something we’ve been particularly concerned about.”
JDE has approximately 80 customers in New Zealand, largely in manufacturing industries.
