Xero claims 2,000 customers

Start-up sees sign-ups accelerate

Online accounting software service Xero has 2,000 paying customers, the company announced today.

CEO Rod Drury says customer growth has been strong during the quiet period for accounting systems changes.

“While still early days, we are seeing the inevitable transition of small businesses moving to online software, and the word-of-mouth effect beginning to kick in,” he says.

Drury says Xero is working hard to position itself for the end of the financial year in March 2009, when companies often undertake accounting system changes.
