African steel producer, Ispat Iscor Ltd., recently signed a three-year network outsourcing contract with Dimension Data Holdings PLC. The deal will result in Didata providing an outsourced network management solution to 19 sites across South Africa.
Didata says that, through its Managed Enterprise Network (MEN) service offering, it will assume the responsibility of managing, operating and optimizing Ispat Iscor's wide area network (WAN) infrastructure.
Says Jeff Jack, technology marketing manager for Didata's Network Solutions division: "Outsourcing the day-to-day management of the enterprise network to a specialist third party, frees Ispat Iscor from the expense and effort of managing its own network environment." Didata says it will provide Ispat Iscor with a customized suite of professional and operational services that are based on its Global Services Operating Architecture. This includes consulting and assessment services, real-time service-level governed management and monitoring as well as telecommunication management.
"We turned to Dimension Data in an effort to reduce our overall WAN costs. Dimension Data's MEN service offering, skills and expertise provides us with a solution that allows us to focus on our core business processes," says Miguel Ferreira, senior network architect at Ispat Iscor.
MEN, a service offering managed by Didata Network Solutions, reportedly operates the network infrastructure, performs regular health checks, provides feedback and optimizes the environment on customers' behalf.
