Virginia hires new state CIO

FRAMINGHAM (02/05/2004) - The Virginia Information Technology Investment Board tapped Lemuel Stewart Jr. to be the state's chief information officer. Stewart, who is president of consultancy Executive Partners, will work under a five-year contract and will oversee a US$500 million annual IT budget.

No stranger to the public sector, Stewart once served as a former director of the Virginia Department of Information Technology. He also previously for Quadramed Corp. as president of its EDI is Healthcare Services Division and as president of Health Communication Services Inc. for Trigon Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Virginia.
