Intergen scores key role in DIA's digital transformation

The Te Ara Manaaki transformation programme has an estimated budget of $90m

Intergen, a New Zealand subsidiary of ASX listed Empired, has been selected to deliver core components of a digital transformation programme for the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA) under a five year contract that is expected to be worth  $10m over the first two years. It also has the option for two, two-year extensions.

Empired says the Te Ara Manaaki transformation programme has an estimated budget of $90m (internal and external) and aims to transform the way New Zealanders access government services. It expects its share over the first two years to be worth $10m.

According to Empired, Te Ara Manaaki is the DIA’s programme to reimagine the way New Zealanders access government services. "With the development of online and mobile platforms, customers will be able to access the identity and life event services they require, at a time and in a manner of their choosing," it says.

The scope of Intergen's initial contract covers the delivery of two core components: the customer centred management system and the customer identity and access management system, both to be developed on Microsoft Dynamics 365.

According to the DIA Te Ara Manaaki, which means "the journey/pathway we are on and the support we will all receive" will enable it to "deliver authoritative identity and life event products and services in better ways," and is the first of two, three-year tranches of a major infrastructure transformation programme.

"The way services are delivered is shifting. The public expects government to operate in an efficient, joined-up way that makes it easy to access services. Our systems must change in order to improve this," the DIA told its incoming minister in a briefing note issued in October 2017.
