Symantec Corp. has appointed Nanoteq as a first-tier business partner in recognition of the company's depth of skills and standing amongst South Africa's (SA's) security solutions providers.
Nanoteq, together with Rocket Software Inc.'s NetCure, won the largest high-end security deal for Symantec in SA during 2003. This was one of the factors that prompted Symantec to upgrade Nanoteq's status, along with its investment in building its Symantec skills base.
Says Basil Mavropoulos, product manager at Nanoteq: "Symantec has grown into one of the top international providers of high-end security solutions. We regard Symantec's solutions as an important component of our end-to-end information security offering to our customers.
"As a result of the new partnership agreement, we will have improved access to Symantec's product management and support resources, which will benefit our customers. We are now in an even stronger position to work with Symantec on high-end security deals in government and the private sector."
Tier 1 status also means that Nanoteq complies with the requirements set out by Symantec to access its Security Incident Management Solution.
Nanoteq has a broad spread of skills in Symantec technology, as well as other impacted technology areas such Checkpoint Systems Inc., Cisco Systems Inc. and Microsoft Corp., says Mavropoulos. Nanoteq says that it also has strong consulting and services skills to aid customers in developing security policies and managing the security environment. Adding these components together, Nanoteq says that it can offer local Symantec customers an end-to-end security solution.
Concludes Mavropoulos: "We are devoting a lot of energy to the Information Security space, and have a number of high-end security projects with blue-chip customers in this country."
