New Zealand web and cloud hosting provider Umbrellar, has launched Umbrellar CloudConnect, a service based on Veeam Cloud Connect that offers offsite backup in Umbrellar’s Auckland data centre 'at the click of a button', and the ability for customer self-restore from ‘a simple management console’.
David Howden, head of cloud at Umbrellar, said the service would provide an inexpensive way to ensure the availability and continuity of data on local or cloud hosted servers, workstations and existing Veeam on-premises installations.
According to Veeam, Veeam Cloud Connect enables businesses to master the 3-2-1 rule, which states that you need to keep three copies of your data, stored on two types of media, with one copy being off site.
“Getting backups off site can be challenging due to limited bandwidth, exploding data volumes and a lack of resources required to build or maintain a true offsite backup repository,” Veeam says.
“With Veeam Cloud Connect, you can master the 3-2-1 rule without dumping money and resources into a second site or adding bandwidth — just leverage cloud backup repository services from a Veeam cloud and service provider and take advantage of Veeam’s built-in WAN acceleration technology and so much more.”
According to Veeam’s web site there are almost 20 providers of Veeam Cloud Connect backup in New Zealand.
