Spark is buying Digital Island, which describes itself as a specialist telco providing a complete bundle of services to businesses and not for profits with, typically, five to 500 seats.
Spark has supplied a range of wholesale services for over 10 years to Digital Island — which claims to have thousand of customers across New Zealand — and says it intends to run Digital Island as a standalone business reporting into the Spark Ventures & Wholesale unit.
Spark Ventures & Wholesale CEO Ed Hyde, CEO, described the move as a relatively small smart, tactical investment.
“Digital Island has built a respected brand in the business communications market and has a great cloud PABX offering for NZ businesses. As such this acquisition will further improve our offering to small and medium-sized business customers,” he said.
Digital Island’s cloud PABX offering is based on based on Mitel's Telepo and Multi-Instance Communications Director products.
