MP for Dunedin South Clare Curran has been appointed minister of broadcasting, communications and digital media minister for government digital services
Curran was and spokesperson for ICT, broadcasting, open government, defence and emergency management while Labour was in opposition.
The MP joined the New Zealand Labour Party in 2006.
According to a Labour Party biography, she began her career as a journalist, before working for the Australian Council of Trade Unions and later founding her own Dunedin-based business, specialising in PR.
It states: “Her background has made her a strong Labour spokesperson for the IT and Communications portfolio.”
