Serko, the NZX listed online travel booking and expense management for business has opened an office in the US and appointed Richard Miller as general manager US sales.
He was most recently general manager of nuTravel and before that spent more than 30 years at American Express Travel in various leadership roles. According to Serko he was at the forefront of developing Amex’s successful online offering, which grew the business’s revenue significantly.
Serko CEO, Darrin Grafton, said “We see this is the first step in establishing a presence across the US.”
He said the move would enable Serko’s reseller partners, who in some cases already have agreements covering the northern hemisphere, to roll out the Serko offering, which has already proven successful in Asia.
“The market needs choice and we know that our technology platform, that handles SME/SMB through to multinational companies for both travel and expense, will present a great choice for the US market,” Grafton said.
Serko last week announced a partnership with online accommodation and travel service provider, Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA). It was the latest in a string over the past 12 months that have expanded the company’s reach.
