Serko expands hotel reach with Gullivers Travel partnership

NZX listed Serko, an online travel booking and expense management service for businesses, has formed a partnership with online accommodation and travel service provider, Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA)

NZX listed Serko, an online travel booking and expense management service for businesses, has formed a partnership with online accommodation and travel service provider, Gullivers Travel Associates (GTA).

Serko said the partnership will give its customers access to “tens of thousands of GTA’s unique hotel suppliers and the ability to book their own negotiated rates, as well as GTA’s exclusive discounted rates.”

Serko CEO, Darrin Grafton, described the agreement as “a really important partnership for Serko and lays another major foundation for Serko’s global expansion.”

He said: “We see this as more than just a hotel content partnership but a strategic initiative as part of our Zeno vision to bring measurable direct and indirect benefits to our clients through hotel content as well as additional value-added services.”

The move is the latest in a series of initiatives by Serko over the past several months that broaden its range of services.

In August 2016, Serko announced a collaboration with global travel systems operator Sabre Corporation to develop the next version of Sabre Online, Sabre’s locally developed corporate online booking tool for small and mid-sized businesses in Australia and New Zealand.

In the same month it formed a partnership with online travel and accommodation services provider Helloworld to enable users of its online booking tool, Serko Online, to search and book Helloworld hotel inventory.

In July 2016 Serko launched a small business travel management application, serko.travel, in conjunction with Xero that enables businesses in New Zealand and Australia with up to 150 employees to make travel bookings online with no service fees.

In May 2017 Serko formed a partnership with HRS Global Hotel Solutions, an online hotel booking services for global enterprises, with a claimed 40,000 corporate customers. Serko said the partnership would give its users access to HRS’ global inventory of 350,000 corporate-relevant hotels, 210,000 of which are independent properties.
