KiwiRail has implemented supply chain planning and optimisation software from Quintiq to enable workforce planning and rostering of its 3,400 staff around New Zealand
Quintiq said its software would give planners the tools to: make informed decisions in workforce planning and scheduling; comply with occupational health and safety practices and processes; enable managers to proactively manage their teams; empower them to make customer-centric decisions that would improve service reliability and punctuality.
State owned KiwiRail operates three inter-island ferries, three long distance passenger services, 198 mainline locomotives and 4,585 wagons. It claims to transport 25 percent of New Zealand’s exports.
Quintic, a subsidiary of French company Dassault Systèmes, set up its Australia and New Zealand subsidiary in 2007. New Zealand’s Aviation Services Service has been a user since 2010.
In June 2016 Quintiq announced that Sydney Trains had opted for its workforce planning and scheduling software. It is also used by Queensland Rail.
