PeopleSoft has won the jackpot at Sky City, being chosen as the vendor for the casino operator's new ERP system.
Andy Batchelor, PeopleSoft's New Zealand sales manager, says PeopleSoft enterprise version 8 HR, financials, payroll and supply chain systems will be rolled out and while Sky City's selection was made before the PeopleSoft's acquisition of JD Edwards was completed, "the addition of JDE functionality will be able to be leveraged in the future".
Sky City's Australian operations ran JDE.
Batchelor won't reveal the value of the deal, but says "Sky City is a significant organisation in New Zealand".
While tenders to replace Sky City's present Infinium ERP system were first called for last year, Batchelor doesn't believe uncertainty surrounding Oracle's hostile takeover bid for PeopleSoft was a contributing factor to the long lead in time before a successful bidder was named.
"Sky City went through due diligence and [made] a careful selection."
Selecting a new ERP system was a business process improvement exercise rather than an IT one, he says.
The implementation will be carried out in partnership with IBM Business Consulting Services. Sky City IS manager Damian Swaffied was unavailable for comment last night.
