American Airlines Inc.'s cargo division has launched online booking at AACargo.com.
Using the new online system, American Airlines Cargo customers can sign in for booking access to the American Airlines global freight network anytime, anywhere, AA said in the statement.
Dave Brooks, president of Fort Worth, Texas-based AA Cargo, called the new system simple and intuitive for customers. "With online booking in the mix, our customers can streamline the entire shipping process from beginning to end and customize an air cargo management system that fits their operation," he said.
The booking technology is powered by London-based Global Freight Exchange (GF-X), which provides a neutral trading platform for air freight carriers and forwarders. AA Cargo is a member of GF-X.
Other GF-X members can access AA booking information through the GF-X platform or the new online booking system. AA Cargo customers who are not members of GF-X can access the information only through AACargo.com, said Julia Ford, an analyst in AA Cargo's sales and marketing division.
AA Cargo is the first carrier to use GF-X's technology to create a booking platform on its own Web site, a GF-X spokeswoman said.
