U.S.-based, independent director Herb Hunt will step down from the Wynyard Group Board to take up the role of expert advisor as the company prepares to launch its next generation big data platform and expands its U.S. and Middle East operations.
Hunt helped lead Wynyard Group through IPO and has chaired the company’s technology committee since 2013.
“The executive team has requested access to Herb’s technology expertise beyond his directorship duties, for the next year,” says Dr. Murray Horn, Chairman, Wynyard Group.
“To ensure Wynyard continues to meet the highest level of corporate governance and independence expected of directors, Herb has agreed to step down from the board for this period.”
Wynyard’s next generation big data platform, being developed with a Silicon Valley partner Objectivity Inc, is due for release mid-2015.
The platform will deliver “market leading” scalability and performance and extend the foundation for Wynyard to continue to bring new crime-fighting solutions to market faster and more cost effectively than its competitors.
Wynyard Group CEO Craig Richardson says increased access to Hunt’s knowledge and experience during this period was very important at this stage of the company’s growth.
“It’s important as we increase our business footprint and extend our product leadership position that we have access to big data and advanced analytics expertise that will continue to inform our research, engineering and development decisions,” he says.
“Herb has supported these board decisions to date but having additional access to his expertise as an advisor during this period is important to maximise the significant market opportunity we see for Wynyard.
“This was difficult do under the board remuneration constraints so I am very pleased Herb has agreed to my request for this change.”
Wynyard also recently announced that former FBI Executive Assistant Director Science and Technology Branch, Louis Grever, has joined the Wynyard board as an independent director.
U.S.-based Grever has been a member of the company’s expert advisory council since 2013 but moved onto the company’s board on 1 April 2015.
