UAL promotes Krishnamurthy to CIO post

FRAMINGHAM (11/04/2003) - United Air Lines Inc.'s parent company, UAL Corp., promoted Nirup Krishnamurthy to the CIO position. Krishnamurthy will also retain his most recent title of vice president of information services. Prior to serving as VP of information services, he was United's managing director of applications development. In that position, he was responsible for all software development at the company. Krishnamurthy also served as director of applications development, where he was responsible for developing and executing automation strategies for the company's Flight Operations, Onboard Service and Cargo divisions. Previously, he held various business analyst and managerial positions in United's research and development organization within the finance division, primarily developing key optimization models for aircraft scheduling, operations planning and aircraft maintenance. He joined the company in 1990.

Krishnamurthy serves on the Board of Skytech LLC, a joint venture between UAL and The Chatterjee Group Inc. that provides software solutions to the transportation industry. He also holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in Industrial Engineering from the State University of New York in Buffalo.
