IDC sees increase in number of Internet transactions

Growth in transactions on the Internet is driven by the fast-growing number of new buyers entering the market, users getting more comfortable on the World-Wide Web and webmasters improving the attractiveness of their storefronts, according to International Data, which last week presented some of its recent research findings at Internet World in San Jose, California.

The Framingham, Massachusetts-based research firm expects total commerce on the Web to jump from last year's US$324 million to US$189 billion in the year 2000.
