Online advertising, the importance of World Wide Web banner ads and the growing convergence of CD-ROM technology and the Internet were highlighted at the Magazine Publisher Association's New Media Conference this week in Auckland.
The audience of more than 100 had clearly moved beyond the Internet basics, seeking specific advice on selecting an appropriate service provider, Web advertising and security issues.
Exhibitor John Riding, of Web Workshop, described the audience as sophisticated. "We especially noted a lot of central government types expressing a real interest in the Internet and the way it can be used," Riding says.
MPA director Janice Boswell rates the show a success and says planning is already under way for next year. "New Media is proving to be the showcase event for multimedia and Internet professionals," she says.
