CompuServe to shed proprietary heritage in favour of Web

Online service pioneer CompuServe is expected to announce in the US today that it will move its proprietary software and services to the World Wide Web.

This move, which is expected to be phased in over a period of months, also means that CompuServe's interface software, CompuServe Information Manager, will be phased out.
