An Auckland-based company is about to launch a help-desk service providing 0800 access to software expertise in the United States.

An Auckland-based company is about to launch a help-desk service providing 0800 access to software expertise in the United States.

The service, being offered here by Mtech, supports 300-plus business software packages and was originally developed by the United States Defence Department to support users worldwide irrespective of time zone. The service was then outsourced to ActionTrack, dubbed ActionCall, and licensed worldwide.

Users get an ActionCall card with a PIN number and 0800 number, through which they can connect to a 24-hour help-desk in Los Angeles, for $35 a month.
