IPC, Time Warner to bring interactive services to NY hotels

IPC Interactive has announced that it has partnered with Time Warner Cable of New York to bring interactive technology, services and content to hotels in New York.

IPC Interactive has announced that it has partnered with Time Warner Cable of New York to bring interactive technology, services and content to hotels in New York.

The agreement will enable Time Warner Cable to enhance its existing services to New York City hotels with the launch of the Time Warner Quantum Hotel Network, officials say. The network will use IPC Interactive's Guestserve system, which is based on IPC's Media Threaded Interpretative Language (MeTIL) software platform, to provide hotel guests with in-room video-on-demand entertainment and interactive video services from a single networked distribution point.

Initially, services will include cable television channels, pay-per- view services, on-screen account review, checkout and video messaging, as well as room service ordering and visitor information guides. In the future, other services such as shopping, game playing and Internet access will also be provided, officials say.

IPC Interactive's Guestserve system is already in in use in more than 70,000 hotel rooms worldwide, including the 5000-room MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas. Hyatt International recently awarded IPC Interactive a contract to design and develop the hotel chain's global television network, officials say.
