Datamatic to cease distributing Netware

Long-time New Zealand Netware distributor Datamatic will cease to represent Novell from the end of July.

Long-time New Zealand Netware distributor Datamatic will cease to represent Novell from the end of July.

"As a result of changing business conditions, both companies have agreed it is no longer in their best interest to continue this relationship," says Novell Australasia director of sales Julian Quinn. "Novell products will continue to be distributed in New Zealand by Comtech New Zealand," he says.

John Forster, chairman of Datamatic Group, says: "As we integrate the business of Portent Technologies into Datamatic over the next few weeks we need to be more broadly based than our current strong alignment with Novell's products. Whilst our long relationship with Novell has been very beneficial we agree with them that we no longer suit their distribution model," he says. "We will continue our relationship with Novell through our training division, The Data College," he says.

Novell says it has no plans to appoint a second New Zealand distributor.
