Compaq's sales rise 14% in second quarter

Compaq has released second-quarter results, announcing a net income of US$267 million, up 9% from the same period in 1995.

Compaq has released second-quarter results, announcing a net income of US$267 million, up 9% from the same period in 1995. Worldwide sales for the quarter ended June 30 rose 14% to US$4 billion.

Income growth was largely due to operational improvements, better asset management and cash collection coupled with a wider range of high-margin products, according to Eckhard Pfeiffer, Compaq's president and CEO, in a prepared statement.
