CompuServe has announced that it will offer an online international commerce and global investing service called Select by Datastream to members interested in investing in overseas markets. The service, which has been launched this week, will offer worldwide financial and economic information to the individual investor with information on more than 5000 companies from 50 countries, according to CompuServe.
In addition to finding out about a particular company, users can search economic data, including unemployment rates, industrial production, gross domestic product, interest rates, money supply and long-term government bond yields, for 30 countries. Select will also provide reports on more than 4000 international stocks including those listed on the Singapore Business Times Stock Index, Madrid Stock Exchange Index, Morocco Upline Index and the Venezuela Industrial Index and provide educational information about investing overseas.
Billed as a premium service, certain Select services will be available at an unspecified additional cost to the regular monthly CompuServe membership, according to CompuServe.
