Netscape has plans to finally get its retail products on New Zealand shelves--but whether it happens in time for the Christmas market is another matter.
The company's recently established Australia-New Zealand office in Melbourne will co-ordinate an Australian retail launch in time for the festive season, but regional manager Clive Mayhew-Begg says New Zealand retail would be touch and go.
"What we have to do in New Zealand is set up a registration server, which gives you a number of ISPs to choose from when you launch your new copy of Navigator. We're committed to doing that in New Zealand--but it's a matter of whether we can do it for Christmas or not."
Netscape did launch its official Australasian ftp mirror site last week, giving users in the region access to their own server for downloads, rather than depending on the US.
