Microsoft to do Explorer forms tool

Microsoft is to include a common forms editor, code-named Forms3, in Office 97, Visual Basic 5.0 and Visual Basic for Applications 5.0.

Microsoft will release a forms building tool based on its Internet Explorer control pad and HTML layout control that will give users a single environment for creating front ends in a variety of applications. Microsoft will include the common forms editor, code-named Forms3, in Office 97, Visual Basic 5.0 and Visual Basic for Applications 5.0, all due later this year.

The layout control is a 2D page editor that lets users visually tie together ActiveX controls, which can link to a database or play multimedia files. Users can download the control pad and HTML layout control with the complete installation of Internet Explorer 3.0.
