Netscape plans to release a native version of its Navigator browser for the OS/2 Warp operating system, an IBM spokesman says. The OS/2 plans come on the heels of Netscape's announcement that it will build a version of Navigator for Cyberdog, Apple's Internet suite.
OS/2 Warp version 4, code-named Merlin, will ship on September 25, the spokesman says. Navigator for OS/2 -- a full 32-bit version -- will not ship until late October, so it won't be bundled with the first shipment of Merlin, the spokesman says. (See Analysts say.)
Now, OS/2 users must run Navigator for Windows in a Windows session and cannot take advantage of all of Navigator's features, he says.
