Oracle next week will announce an Internet application development environment called Apollo, sources close to the company say. The product, to be launched at an event on October 15 at which the company will make an electronic commerce announcement, will enable corporations to build Web-based applications and integrate them with existing Internet commerce solutions, sources say.
The company is also to announce a number of partnerships, including one with Broadvision and with OpenMarket.
Company sources say also that Oracle plans to enter the fray with Microsoft and Netscape to become a serious contender in the electronic commerce market.
