Auckland SPCA considers the Net

The Auckland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is considering getting an Internet connection.

The Auckland Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking at going online as it upgrades its computers.

The upgrade from a network of five diskless workstations to a 15-PC network is being forced on the organisation as it expands to accommodate a growing number of animals. The society is considering an Internet connection to use for fund-raising and information gathering.

The organisation has a database of more than 20,000 animals and it hopes eventually to provide inspectors with notebook computers with which they can query the database from the field.
