Telecom denies Xtra head to go

Telecom has denied a persistent industry rumour that controversial Xtra boss Chris Tyler is leaving the enterprise in the New Year to join one of the regional Bell operating companies he visited on an Xtra sales trip this year.

Is he or isn't he? Telecom has denied a persistent industry rumour that controversial Xtra boss Chris Tyler is leaving the enterprise in the New Year to join one of the regional Bell operating companies he visited on an Xtra sales trip this year.

"I thought that was a good story too," says Telecom media spokesman Quentin Bright. "I went over and asked Chris--and he looked shocked and then started laughing. There's no truth in it."

The same sources claiming that Tyler is soon to depart also maintain that Telecom's media interests--Yellow Pages Online, Xtra and FirstMedia--will be brought under one roof. Ownership and authoring of online Yellow Pages content is thought to have been a source of disagreement between Tyler and Telecom Directories.
