Japanese PC owners most likely to be wired

Japanese home PC owners are the most likely of any nationality to have their computers connected to the Internet. According to new IDC/LINK survey, 18% of Japanese home PC owners access the Internet. The US is a close second, at 16%.

According to new IDC/LINK survey, 18% of Japanese home PC owners access the Internet. The U.S. is a close second, at 16%.

The results are quite different, however, when it comes to using the Internet to purchase goods and services, with 34% of Western European households accessing the Internet saying they have made such purchases. In Japan as well as in the rest of Asia that figure is only 17 %, and in the US 22%. Although the survey was not conducted in New Zealand, IDC/LINK found a strong upward trend globally.
