Netscape and Concentric Network Corp. have joined forces to offer hosted private intranet services accessible from anywhere on the Internet.

The services will give any person or small business with Internet access the ability to create a virtual office which can be shared by co-workers or other authorised users, according to Netscape officials.

The services will be available through a new section of Netscape's Internet site and will be called Netscape Virtual Office by Concentric. Concentric is a Cupertino, California-based provider of IP-based network services.

In addition to their location on Netscape's site, the services will use Netscape Communicator and SuiteSpot server software for Web, messaging and collaboration, and will tap Concentric for its experience in customer service and application hosting, officials say.

Concentric can be reached on the World Wide Web at http://www.concentric.net/.
