The NetworkMCI DOS Tracker was designed to trace denial of service attacks back to their source by constantly monitoring a network and immediately tracing an attack back to the site where it originated.

Such an attack usually overwhelms a server by tying it up with authentication messages and not allowing in legitimate users. Tracing such an attack often takes longer than the attack itself lasts, but MCI said DOS Tracker can usually pinpoint the attack's source within two to three minutes.
