Novonyx, the Novell and Netscape conglomerate formed in June, has made good on its promise to release a road map of its products for porting Netscape's SuiteSpot solutions to Novell's NetWare 4 by the end of October.
The company announced this week that it has started beta testing of Netscape Enterprise
Server for NetWare, Netscape Messaging Server for NetWare and Netscape FastTrack for
Novonyx also announced a database relationship with Oracle, under which
Novonyx will include a development and deployment version of the Oracle database in its
Enterprise Pro Server product.
According to company executives, these first Novonyx products will offer NetWare 4
features connectivity to Oracle databases; a scaleable message server that supports Internet
standards SMTP, POP3, and IMAP4; complete integration with Novell Directory Services; and
AdminServer, a common administration console across all SuiteSpot applications.
William Donahoo, vice president of marketing at Novonyx, said the company would follow
this initial product shipment of its Enterprise, Messaging, and FastTrack Servers with
Netscape's entire line of SuiteSpot servers for Novell's IntraNetware platform.
Specifically, officials said the company will port Netscape's Calendar, Collabra and Proxy
servers by mid-1998; and Netscape's Certificate and Compass servers by the end of 1998.
The first three Novonyx solutions are scheduled to ship by the end of the year, and pricing
information will be announced then.
