A new long-distance and international telecommunications provider promising prices 20% to 30% below major carriers launches this week in Auckland.

Newcall managing director Norman Nicholls says it has completed an interconnection agreement with Telecom and will focus initially on the business network market.

He says the company will be concentrating on the delivery of business telecommunications including national and international toll calls, cellular, fax and 0800 services, as well as Internet access.

The company is dividing the country into three call zones (compared with up to 17 zones for some competitors) and will offer uniform 24-hour international call rates.
