Computerworld had been told Westpac's ATM service was affected but bank spokesman John Anderson said this was not the case because it was on a different circuit.

EDS is reviewing its emergency procedures in the wake of a fire brigade callout to its Nelson St, Auckland facility on Saturday June 13.

The culprits were two circuit boards that failed, causing a power outage to equipment housed for three banks: Westpac Trust, BNZ and ANZ.

A spokesman for EDS says that at 10.15pm a security guard saw smoke in the machine room and called the fire brigade. The building was evacuated.

The all-clear was given an hour later but power was out for two hours.

Computerworld had been told Westpac’s ATM service was affected but bank spokesman John Anderson said this was not the case because it was on a different circuit.

The EDS spokesman says all the circuit boards are being replaced as a precautionary measure and that EDS is taking the opportunity to review its emergency procedures.
