Compaq has named Ian Penman as Australasian managing director in the wake of its Digital acquisition and reorganisation. Penman headed the Australasian operation before the merger.
"I am looking forward to appointing a strong and balanced senior management team in the next month who will work with me in leading the company towards its new goals," says Penman.
Current management teams at both Compaq and Digital have been working together closely over recent weeks to help plan and shape the future direction of the new combined organisation.
Digital's Australian managing director, Ron Bunker, will remain "fully involved" over this period to continue the work of bringing the two organisations together, Penman says
An announcement on who will be the New Zealand country manager appointment was expected "very soon" as Computerworld went to press. The likely pick for New Zealand was expected to be one of the two incumbents, Compaq's Robin Paterson or Digital's Sue Leikis.
