Former Digital New Zealand managing director Sue Leikis, left, has been appointed sales and product marketing general manager of the merged Digital-Compaq.

The rest of the senior management team will not be announced for another three weeks. Announcements about other staff will take place progressively up until October. The only other appointment announced so far is that of managing director Robin Paterson.

In her new role, Leikis will be responsible for all sales, channel relationships and product marketing for the organisation. Leikis joined Digital in February 1993 as PC business unit manager. In July 1997 she became sales and marketing general manager for the technology solutions group responsible for selling all of Digital’s products and services. Before joining Digital she was PC marketing manager for IBM New Zealand.

Compaq is not yet saying specifically what her appointment means for Compaq marketing manager Tony Lambert or any other staff. However, Paterson says Lambert will continue to play an important senior role in the company. He says Lambert has been a key contributor to the structure that’s evolved. Leikis was unavailable for comment before Computerworld’s deadline.
