Digital video plan set from Oracle, SGI

Oracle and Silicon Graphics are this week to detail a cooperative development and marketing agreement to deliver Digital Video Broadcast and residential interactive digital TV services. The project will use the Silicon Graphics Origin video computing platform, featuring SGI Origin Servers and digital video options, coupled with the Oracle Video Server software, for broadcast and interactive television.

Oracle and Silicon Graphics are this week to detail a cooperative development and marketing agreement to deliver Digital Video Broadcast and residential interactive digital TV services.

The project will use the Silicon Graphics Origin video computing platform, featuring SGI Origin Servers and digital video options, coupled with the Oracle Video Server software, for broadcast and interactive television.

The vendors' video streaming solution also uses other products such as Oracle databases, as well as SGI's NuMA hardware architecture.
