The ASB Bank has chosen home-grown software for its just-completed True Rewards loyalty scheme.
After investigating off-the-shelf and custom-built loyalty schemes from both New Zealand and abroad, the bank chose a solution by Auckland-based GFG Group.
ASB CIO Garry Fissenden says key criteria were the ability to interface with the existing IT platform, time to market, business functionality and cost.
He says there were a number of programmes based on airline loyalty systems but using these would have meant a lot of additional development. The bank already had a relationship with GFG, which could deliver a tailored solution in the right time frame at the right price.
The Loyalty Bank system on which True Rewards is based was developed in a CASE/4GL environment using LDA III from Unisys. Development took place in a Windows NT environment, where coding the system specification, testing and online de--bugging were completed in four months.
