Microsoft has shown off its Office 2000 applications software suites at Internet World in New York.
The Office 2000 line consists of five suites: Premium, Professional, Small Business, Standard and Developer. The suites are expected to ship during the first quarter of 1999, Microsoft said.
With Premium, users will be able to implement Web-enabled information sharing, collaborate on documents using an intranet, and create and manage Web sites, the company said. The suite is furnished with Word 2000, Excel 2000, Access 2000, Publisher 2000, Office Small Business Tools, FrontPage 2000, Outlook 2000 and PhotoDraw 2000.
The Professional suite will allow organisations, software users and small businesses to publish and share documents on the Web, the company said. It now features Publisher 2000, a business desktop publishing program, and Office Small Business Tools. The suite also offers Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, PowerPoint 2000 and Access 2000.
The Small Business suite includes Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000, Publisher 2000 and Small Office Business Tools.
Made for organsations with basic computing needs, the Standard suite includes a core set of Office applications and software, such as Word 2000, Excel 2000, Outlook 2000 and PowerPoint 2000.
The Developer suite is aimed at developers building products that customize, automate and integrate Microsoft Office. It includes everything in the Premium suite, as well as tools to build, manage and deploy products with Microsoft Office.
Pricing for the suites has not been set, but it is expected to be comparable with Office 97, the company said.
