Clear Communications is making a number of new tools available to its virtual private network (VPN) customers.
From December 1, Clear will offer customers of its Connect service ways to control their costs by managing usage through secure access.
Connect business manager Nicole Sommerfeld says the changes were prompted by customer feedback. "We've developed a range of tools to control costs by managing their usage. For example, some customers were finding themselves connected 24 hours a day, possibly because of problems with their modems.
Sommerfield says Connect now has a "session idle time limit" feature which allows calls to be force-disconnected after they have been idle for a certain number of minutes." This time limit is defined by each customer and can be set by service, group or user. Other new tools include usage reporting by group and a new management facility for customers with large number of users.
Pricing has been restructured with a reduction of more than 20% in hourly usage charges and increases in monthly fees and installation fees.
