Local MSN launch now a week or more away

Be still our beating hearts. After a flurry of activity this week, it now seems that the local MSN portal, originally due late last month, will not be ready for launch for between a week and 10 days. Australia joint venture Nine MSN, which will manage the site, says the company is currently talking with its New Zealand content partners to make sure they are 'appropriately represented' on the portal.

Be still our beating hearts. After a flurry of activity this week, it now seems that the local MSN portal, originally due late last month, will not be ready for launch for between a week and 10 days.

The portal is to be managed by the Packer-Microsoft joint venture NineMSN, which seems to have relatively few roots down yet on this side of the Tasman.

Nine MSN's network PR & promotions manager Anne Sullivan says the company is currently talking with its New Zealand content partners - National Business Review, TVNZ, TAB Sports, NZ City, Jason's Travel and possibly Xtra - to make sure they are "appropriately represented" on the portal.

She says a launch is "not far away".
